MAUI
Kapalua Resort – Plantation & Bay Courses
Playing the Plantation Course is sure to be on every golfer’s bucket list.
Designed by Ben Crenshaw and Bill Coore, the course was designed on a grand scale in keeping with its location on the slopes of the West Maui Mountains and offers dramatic ocean views from virtually every hole. Its lengthy 7,596 yard par 73 layout challenges the pros but it’s wide fairways and generous greens make it very playable for the average golfer.
With dramatic elevation changes, this course offers plenty of downhill tee shots. You’ll feel like one of the pros when – with the aid of the aggressive slope of the 18th fairway – you will enjoy hitting one of the longest drives of your life. The Plantation Course is the site of the PGA TOUR’s Sentry Tournament of Champions each January featuring an elite field of previous year’s PGA TOUR winners.
The field has included golf greats such as Tiger Woods, Vijay Singh, Phil Mickelson, Ernie Els, Davis Love III, Dustin Johnson, Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth, Patrick Reed, Jon Rahm and many more. The course record is set at 61 and tied between Justin Thomas, Jon Rahm, and Matt Jones from the 2022 Sentry Tournament of Champions.
The Kapalua Bay Course is a championship course that is as challenging as it is beautiful. Known for its 17th hole, the only hole to play over the ocean on Maui.
The Bay Course opened in 1975 and in that time has hosted over 20 major professional tournaments – the most of any neighbor island course in the state of Hawaii. From the first live prime-time televised event in golf at the 1983 Kapalua International to the Kapalua LPGA classic some 25 years later, The Bay Course has consistently faced the best players in golf and withstood the test of time and technology.
Great champions and stories have emerged here, such as Greg Norman’s first win on America soil, Ian Woosnam and David Llwellyn’s thrilling victory for Wales in the World Cup of Golf and Morgan Pressel’s nail-biting win at the Kapalua LPGA classic. Two of the most popular PGA players ever, Fred Couples and Davis Love III, have each earned victories here – twice.
The Bay Course should certainly be on the “must play” list for any golfer visiting Maui.
Wailea Golf Club – Blue, Emerald & Gold Courses
Three award-winning courses, plenty of sunshine, and gorgeous vistas from every hole – there’s more golf to enjoy at Wailea Golf Club than at any other resort in Hawaii.
The championship Wailea Gold is both beautiful and energizing, named among the best resort courses in America since the day it opened. Its thoughtful and rugged design takes advantage of the terrain’s natural undulations, and carefully incorporates historic Hawaiian elements including centuries-old lava rock walls.
While the Gold is the most challenging of Wailea’s trio, 4 to 6 tee boxes on every hole make it a suitable track for varying skill levels.
Wailea’s original layout, the Blue is a classic island resort course designed by Arthur Jack Snyder and loved by long-time fans for its charm and challenge. Its sloping fairways, strategically placed bunkers and sometimes perplexing greens offer risk-reward choices that make it a fun play, time and again.
An added bonus: fabulous vistas of Wailea, Mt. Haleakala, the ocean, and Maui’s neighboring isles unfold as you play, making a great round even better.
Wailea’s Emerald is frequently lauded for being easy on the eyes and fascinatingly fun. Honored for its women- and couples-friendly features, the course was masterfully designed by Robert Trent Jones II to be fun for virtually every player – delighting your senses while testing your club selection and ball placement skills.
The double green on #10 and #17 is worth taking an extra moment. A serene lake and fabulous ocean backdrop make it one of the prettiest spots anywhere.
Ka’anapali Golf Course – Royal & Kai Courses
The Royal Ka’anapali Course is one of only two courses in all of Hawaii designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. The architect took advantage of the rolling landscape to create gently sloping fairways and large contoured greens to ensure a challenging approach to each hole. Stretching 6,700 yards, this par 71 course will challenge your club selection and putting skills. The Royal Ka’anapali Course begins at sea level with a par 5 hole extending 550 yards. The course hugs the shoreline before winding its way to the West Maui Mountain foothills. Arnold Palmer called the 18th hole (par 4) one of the best and most challenging finishing holes he’d ever played. The 449-yard hole plays longer than it looks, hugging the brackish water canal the entire length of the fairway and green, making it a memorable last hole.
You become a part of this beautiful history as you make your way around our playground. Breathtaking views from our sloping vistas reveal the islands of Lanai and Molokai in the distance. The tropical tradewinds will keep you cool during your round, and rainbows you will see remind you that our home is a special place.
As you journey through the Royal Course, notice the historical plaques on each tee, sharing our history and stories of Kā’anapali. The course will take you Makai (Oceanside) and then bring you into the West Maui Mountain foothills (Mauka) with stunning panoramic views.
Along many holes on the Ka’anapali Kai Course lie natural canals, gulches and lava rock boundaries. The course is landscaped with native flowers along the trails like the hibiscus, bougainvillea and plumeria, as well as the Norfolk Pines and coconut trees that border many fairways. These features are part of what makes the course most enjoyable. Ka’anapali Kai Course was redesigned by Hawaii’s most prolific golf course architect, Robin Nelson. This course focuses on strategy of your round, not necessarily distance or strength, which is why this course is enjoyed by both the beginner and avid golfer.
Ka’anapali Kai Course was originally created as an executive course and was later redesigned by architect Arthur Jack Snyder in 1976. At 6,400 yards, the par 70 course is a more forgiving golf course with subtle, undulating greens that accommodates all levels of play. The land on which Ka’anapali Golf Courses was founded, originally housed a sugar cane plantation.
Once the vacation place of the Royal Chiefs of Maui it was the perfect escape for royalty who enjoyed many games including a form of lawn bowling using stones on what are now the fairways of the Kā’anapali Kai Golf Course.
Your journey today begins Makai (Oceanside), then takes you into the foothills of the West Maui Mountains (Mauka), offering breathtaking views of our Kai (Ocean) and neighboring islands. Experience Kā’anapali.

The Dunes at Maui Lani
The Maui is unique to the rest of Hawaii because it is actually made up of the remains of two volcanoes linked together by a valley or isthmus formed by the receding sea. Hence the name “Valley Isle.” The Dunes is the only golf course in Hawaii built on naturally occurring dune terrain.
Minimal earth-moving occurred when The Dunes was designed, which was a departure from the modern-day American course architecture that has ruled for much of the last century.
Instead, its architect, Robin Nelson, used the land itself as inspiration for the course’s design. It is, in many ways, a throwback to the way courses were made centuries ago; only in this instance The Dunes enjoys the advantages of today’s technologies, like irrigation. It is the perfect blend of old- and new-world ingredients!
BIG ISLAND
Mauna Kea Resort – Mauna Kea Golf Course & Hapuna Golf Course
Mauna Kea Resort’s two award-winning 18-hole championship golf courses have set the standard for play and for environmental sensitivity in Hawai‘i golf for generations.
Check off your bucket list at the legendary Mauna Kea Golf Course, created in 1964 by Robert Trent Jones Sr. on what was once a barren black lava field. Today, lush fairways tumble across seaside cliffs with unfolding ocean and coastal views. Elevated, undulating greens and prevailing coastal winds demand accuracy, while the epic over-the-ocean signature 3rd hole guarantees an unforgettable day of play.
Mauna Kea Resort also boasts the Arnold Palmer/Ed Seay-designed Hapuna Golf Course which opened to play in 1992. With dramatic elevation changes from sea level to 750 feet and Kohala Coast ocean views and majestic island views from every hole, this fun links-style course measures in at just under 6,900 yards. Its unique design makes it a favorite among visitors and kama‘aina alike.

Mauna Lani Golf Club – North & South Courses
The North Course represents the quintessential golf experience on the Island of Hawaii. Built on a lava bed, the North is characterized by 18 holes of rolling terrain punctuated by Kiawe (mesquite) forests. A 230-acre protected archaeological district lies on the northern boundary of the golf course.
No.17, a par three tucked into a natural lava amphitheater, is the resort’s signature hole and a favorite “I was here” photo spot. This course has become one of the most popular tournament venues on the Island.
Mauna Lani South Course, snakes through the stark, rugged a’a lava of the prehistoric Kaniku lava flow. This challenging 18 hole course, offers the golfer a panorama of mountain and ocean views.
It is also home to No. 15, one of the most photographed over-the-water golf course holes in the world. For 10 years, this was the host venue to the annual Senior Skins Game from 1990 – 2000.

Waikoloa Beach Resort Golf
World renowned golf has long been associated with the Kohala Coast, and Waikoloa Beach Resort is no exception. Home of “Hawaiʻi’s Premiere 27-Hole Golf Experience,” Waikoloa Beach Resort Golf is comprised of the Beach Nine, Lakes Nine, and Kings’ Nine presents a unique opportunity for golfers to design their own golf experience.
The Beach Nine is a must-play, featuring generous landing areas from the tee boxes and large greens surrounded by low-lipped bunkers to reward the social golfer. Skilled and avid players can be aggressive and be rewarded with multiple birdie opportunities. Hole #6 is the highlight of this loop, a par-five that plays on an emerald ribbon of fairway between black lava fields down to the ocean, then takes a hard dogleg-left to a putting surfaced ringed by swaying palm trees and backed by Pacific waves, creating one of the most beautiful and memorable holes in Hawaii.
The Kings’ Nine provides a completely different playing experience. A Scottish links-style layout, the Kings’ Nine features wide fairways and wider views of Mauna Kea in the background. Native grasses and pot bunkers add a degree of drama and strategy to shot-making. The signature hole on this loop is #5, a risk/reward par-four of only 277 yards. Better players might consider going for the green, but trouble lurks left and short in the form of a fairway-long sand bunker and massive lava boulders. A truly memorable hole on a truly memorable course.
The Lakes Nine winds its way through the heart of the resort, taking its name from the bodies of water that come into play on five of the nine holes. This classic resort-style layout, part of the original Beach Course built back in 1980, will not beat you up with length, but does require strategic shots to avoid lava and water trouble. The lava beds in this area of the resort created some natural elevation changes that were neatly incorporated into the design. Hole #8 is a fun and scenic par-three hole with a water carry to reach the receptive green and a towering wall of lava as a backdrop.

KAUAI
Princeville Makai Golf Club
The renowned Princeville Makai Golf Club at Princeville Resort is a Robert Trent Jones Jr. design, which opened in 1971 and was redesigned in 2009. The Makai Course winds it way around serene lakes, native woodlands and the spectacular coastline with views of Bali Hai and Hanalei Bay. The course plays to a par 72 with six different sets of tees that can be stretched to more than 7,200 yards from the tips.
The renovation by Robert Trent Jones Jr. features the introduction of Seashore Paspalum turf grass on to all fairways and greens, providing spectacular playing surfaces for golfers of all skill levels. Additional improvements include the reconfiguring greens complexes and green surrounds, as well as bold reshaping of all bunkers. The signature 7th hole on the Makai Course plays to 213 yards from the back tees. It consists of a challenging tee shot over scenic cliffs, onto to a green which is surrounded by brilliant white bunkers and surreal views of the mountains and Pacific Ocean.
The practice facility at Princeville Makai Golf Club has also been improved to include two large new practice tees, a practice fairway bunker, seven target greens with bunkers, a teaching tee, and short game practice complex. Princeville Makai Golf Club offers new Callaway Golf rental clubs for men, women and juniors who want to enjoy the best equipment in golf.
Ocean Course at Hokuala
“I think of Kauai as a laid-back tropical paradise. The island is more quaint and less commercial than Oahu and Maui. I put forth my best effort in the design process. The quality of conditioning, maintenance, and playing experience is important to me. It all reflects on my name and brand. It’s reassuring Timbers Resorts is willing to make a commitment to ensure that the product I have produced is taken care of, enjoyed, and thought well of for generations to come.” – Jack Nicklaus
One signature hole after another. One picture postcard after another. Here, where the ocean meets the land, is as good as a golfer’s life gets. The Ocean Course at Hokuala has been completely renovated in anticipation of your visit, making Hokuala the premier golf resort on Kauai, Hawaii.
“The 16th hole at the Ocean Course at Hokuala is a standout. Be careful playing the drivable par-4. It challenges you to make the right club selection. If your tee ball travels down the slot, then you have a chance to drive it on the green and putt for an eagle. A tee shot miss and you have an awkward pitch to the green. The smart play is usually to hit a hybrid or a 3-iron, leaving you a little wedge down to the green.” – Jack Nicklaus
Puakea Golf Course
Designed by architect Robin Nelson, the course is resort quality and built on more than 200 acres of historic property, which was once a sugar cane plantation.
Sports Illustrated stated the Puakea Golf Course “is too spectacular to keep off our list…dramatic in the extreme, the course offers fabulous views of the Pacific and is built amid volcanic cliffs, massive ravines, giant sinkholes and lush tropical undergrowth.”
The 18-hole, par 72 layout offers a variety of looks for golfers of all skill levels. Puakea has rolling mounds, strategic bunkering, water features, and a spread of foliage that shape it’s 6,954 yards.
Poipu Bay Golf Course
Sprawled between lush mountains and rugged ocean cliffs on Kauai’s sunny South Shore, Poipu Bay Golf Course boasts 18 championship holes with seashore paspalum greens that are as visually stunning as they are challenging. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., Poipu Bay is one of the most highly acclaimed resort courses in the Pacific. From 1994 to 2006, the course played host to the annual PGA Grand Slam of Golf, one of the most prestigious tournaments in the golf world. A round at Poipu Bay Golf Course affords you the opportunity to experience the sheer pleasures and daunting challenges of a course recognized as one of America’s finest and to “play where champions play.”
Poipu Bay’s 210 oceanfront acres meander along rugged coastline featuring 85 bunkers, five water hazards and wildly varying trade winds, all of which combine to make the course one of the most intriguing and spectacular golf experiences in the U.S. The ocean-links style course includes over 30 acres of tropical plants and flowers, and pleasant distractions abound: panoramic vistas tempt you to stop and get utterly lost in the scenery; Hawaii’s endangered native nene geese frequent the links; and in winter months, humpback whales spout offshore. Your greatest challenge at Poipu Bay may be simply to keep your concentration on the game!
The golf course is home to a number of significant historical sites—cultural treasures that are protected and maintained by Poipu Bay staff. The course was designed around several ancient Hawaiian heiau (places of worship) and handmade stone walls, estimated to date back over 500 years. Golfers are forbidden to enter these culturally-sensitive areas or play balls from them. In ancient times, heiau were built specifically on sites deemed to have the most mana, a spiritual power that emanates from sacred places.
Kiahuna Golf Club
Kauai Golf means golf surrounded by the lush, natural beauty of Kauai at the Kiahuna Golf Club in beautiful, sunny Poipu Beach. World renowned architect, Robert Trent Jones II, skillfully included many ancient remnants of an authentic Hawaiian village into his design, where you will experience the course’s beauty and a sense of the enduring history of the islands and Kauai.
Kiahuna Golf Club offers challenging resort golf within a fascinating area of ancient Polynesian archeology. Enjoy your game surrounded by the lush, natural beauty of Kauai and its historic, Hawaiian culture.
O’AHU
Turtle Bay Resort – Palmer Course & Fazio Course
Designed by Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay, this course was rated one of Golf Magazine’s “Top 10 New Courses” in America and ranked 4th among Golf Digest’s “Best New Resort Courses in America” when it opened in 1992. Today, the Palmer Course is consecutively ranked the #1 Public Access Golf Course on Oʻahu. It features two very distinct experiences.
The front nine will challenge golfers with a Scottish Links style layout, while the back nine has a more tropical setting as it winds through verdant landscapes. The course forms a horseshoe around the Punahoʻolapa marsh, an unspoiled 100-acre wetland and bird sanctuary. Water comes into play on 14 of the Palmer holes. The signature 17th hole offers panoramic ocean views from the green while the hole is dotted with nine bunkers, which makes it as challenging as it is scenic.
This par 72 course measures 6,225 yards from the resort tees. When played from the Palmer (black) tees, this 7,218-yard seaside course presents a stiff challenge to even the best players. Sand traps are plentiful, with more than 70 menacing the fairways and protecting the greens. However, there are five sets of tees on each hole that provide an enjoyable experience for golfers of any ability.
The George Fazio Course at Turtle Bay Resort opened in 1972. The 18-hole design meanders among traditional Hawaiian palms while skirting the North Shore coast on numerous occasions. It is known for generally being more forgiving than the Arnold Palmer Course and having breathtaking ocean views on both the back and front nine. It is a popular walking course because it can be played from a shorter distance and there are far fewer forced carries.
While the Fazio Course is the original course at Turtle Bay Resort, it is still a great test of golf, and in its day it hosted the best players of a generation, including Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, Sam Snead, and Chi Chi Rodriguez in the first Champions Tour Skins Game. The Fazio Course has also hosted the LPGA Tour’s Hawaiian Open. The Fazio Course is an experience well worth having, and for those enjoying multiple days at the resort, a great complement to the Palmer experience.

Amateur golfers will revel in following the footsteps of great champions such as Greg Norman and Annika Sorenstam at Kapolei Golf Club, which hosted the LPGA Tour’s Ladies “Hawaiian Open” from 1996 to 2001 and PGA Champions Tour “Pacific Links Championship” from 2012 to 2014.
Designed by architect Ted Robinson, best known for Sahalee Country Club, Kapolei Golf Club is highly regarded for its magnificent beauty, floral gardens and strategic golf holes. Meandering over 190 rolling acres of a former sugar cane plantation, Kapolei’s elevated greens, 80 bunkers and five lakes provide delightful tactical challenges.
Kapolei Golf Club is highly regarded, rating 4 1/2 stars out of five on Golf Digest’s Places to Play listing and earning the Honolulu Star Advertiser’s People’s Choice Award as “Best Course on Oahu” in 2010 and 2014.
Ko Olina Golf Club
Ko Olina Golf Club, one of Golf Digest’s “Top 75 Resort Courses in the U.S.,” is a challenging 18-hole course built in 1990 by renowned golf course architect Ted Robinson. Typical of his designs, Ko Olina Golf Club features exceptional water features, multi-tiered greens, large landing areas, and a moderate length which makes it perfect for beginners and experts alike.
The clubhouse design symbolizes all the aspirations of the resort. Approximately 35,000 square feet, the architecture is characterized by its tri-level design and Hawaiian pitched roofs. Broad overhangs and verandas give it an open atmosphere and provides golfers with spectacular views of the course and landscape. In addition to men’s and ladies’ locker rooms; each equipped with showers, steam rooms and Jacuzzis, the clubhouse includes a comprehensive golf shop, recently voted the top Resort Shop by the Retail Merchants of Hawaii.
The clubhouse is also home to Roy’s Ko Olina, one of famous chef Roy Yamaguchi’s 31 iconic restaurants around the world featuring the Hawaiian Fusion cuisine he made famous and which earned him the coveted James Beard award.
From 1990 – 1995, the Ko Olina Golf Club hosted the LPGA’s Hawaiian Ladies Open, the Ko Olina Senior PGA Invitational in 1992, and from 2006 – 2008, the Fields Open in Hawaii LPGA event. Most recently, Ko Olina Golf Club hosted the LPGA LOTTE Championship from 2012 – 2019. Noted LPGA star Michelle Wie, who grew up in Honolulu, developed her championship caliber game here at Ko Olina Golf Club.
Hawaii Prince Golf Club
Designed by Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay, Hawaii Prince Golf Club offers three interchangeable nines and 27 holes to create a variety of playing conditions for all skill levels. The course features 270 acres offering stunning views of the rain carved Waianae Mountains, long verdant fairways lined with numerous white sand bunkers and 10 strategically placed lakes.
Each of the three nine holes – A, B and C – is related but has its own identity. The most challenging combination is A-C, slope rating 134 from the back tees. The least difficult is A-B. Ten lakes dot the course. Water comes into play on six holes of the A course, three on the B and seven of the C.
On the C course, the toughest test is on the second hole, a par-4 dogleg with a lake on the left, several fairway bunkers on the right and the out-of-bounds beyond that. The toughest on the A course is the eighth hole, a long par-5 with lots of bunkers and mounding. The B course saves the toughest for last, a par-4 that usually plays into the trade winds, with water to the left, front and right of the tee. This is probably the most difficult hole of all three courses.
The three interchangeable nines offer a variety of challenges with multiple sets of tees and well-placed bunkers awaiting any errant shot. Depending on which combination of nines you play, you are sure to get a diverse experience.
