Kooindah Waters Golf Club

Located on the NSW beautiful Central Coast, Kooindah Waters is an immaculate 6083 metres 18-hole championship golf course that is ranked among the best courses in Australia.

Completed in 2006, the Kooindah Waters golf course was designed by Ross Watson and champion Australian golfer Craig Parry. Built on natural wetlands in a stunning bushland setting, Kooindah Waters boasts some amazing wildlife including hundreds of species of birds. Complimenting this tranquil setting is an amazing golf course that has been commonly called a “thinking golfer’s course”.

Well known for its meticulous conditioning, Kooindah Waters offers a fierce challenge to golfers of all levels. Not only will a player need to avoid water hazards on all 18 holes but Parry and Watson have also incorporated 84 fairway and greenside bunkers, some with railway sleeper walls, that as well as adding to the aesthetics, also further challenges the golfer.

Once these hazards are cleared, golfers cannot fail to be impressed by the couch fairways and superb bent greens that roll fast and true.

Magenta Shores Golf Club

Magenta Shores Golf Course began with a brilliant location teamed with the brilliant mind of Ross Watson: “I have been waiting for a site like this since I first began designing golf courses 30 odd years ago. With its rolling landscape, coastal dunes and tranquil National Park it was the ideal canvas on which to create a truly sensational course, one which will appeal to golfers of all levels”.

The thinking golfer will really enjoy Magenta Shores. Built on a deep sand base and shaped in the spirit of the famous Scottish Links courses, Magenta Shores will call golfers to use their imagination and every club in their bag.

From the back tees, the course stretches to around 6300 metres with a par of 72. Each hole has multiple tee boxes giving plenty of flexibility and will present a very stern test for the most gifted if desired, or an enjoyable game for players of all levels. Golfers are greeted with generous fairways and beautifully sculpted greens with many interesting pin positions at Magenta Shores.

Shelly Beach Golf Club

Huge established trees line most fairways with lush, soft fairways giving mostly perfect lies throughout the course with equally good, true greens.

Newcastle Golf Club

Newcastle Golf Club, only a two-hour drive from Sydney, is one of the hidden gems in world golf. It has an ingredient common to many great courses; it is unique and reminds one of no other course.

In keeping with most courses designed during the golden age of golf course design, the architects left the land as they found it. Little earth was moved, save in the building up of some of the green pads especially the one at the first hole.

The dunes that continuously roll across the property aren’t massive in scale like the ones at Ballybunion or Lahinch. Rather they range from ten to thirty feet, a size that lends itself to good golf qualities. Drives that aren’t hit straight and true tend to leave the golfer with a blind or semi-blind approach shot from an awkward angle.

From the opening tee shot to the last putt, all aspects of the golfer’s game are challenged while he enjoys an uninterrupted walk through land unspoiled by man’s hand

The thoughtful golfer who keeps his ball in play off the tee and underneath the hole on his approach around Newcastle will find this one of the most satisfying exercises in course management that the game offers.

Pacific Dunes Golf Club

Pacific Dunes is a championship golf course located in Port Stephens. Fitted with world-class Bentgrass greens and Santa Ana Couch fairways, the course is maintained to an impeccable standard by a team of dedicated agronomists.

Pacific Dunes combines two distinct nine-hole loops to create a spectacular 18-hole championship course. The opening nine holes wind through a native woodland setting, perfectly complementing the stunning wetland back nine.

The course was designed by James Wilcher, Greg Norman’s lead designer in the Australasian region with almost a decade of experience. Pacific Dunes also has a wide variety of facilities including a swimming pool, tennis courts, parks, gardens, multiple walking trails, a golf shop, and a dining and events destination, The Greenhouse.

New South Wales Golf Club

New South Wales Golf Club is currently ranked as the 4th best golf course in Australia. “La Perouse”, as the course is often known, is set amongst scrub-covered sand hills and valleys that slope down to the Pacific Ocean at secluded Cruwee Bay. This inspiring layout is bounded by water on three sides and has many of the characteristics of true links golf.

Occasionally benign and at the mercy of the young guns, this sleeping giant with its undulating fairways and small greens, calls for great skill in shotmaking when the sea breezes blow. It has been written that golf had its origins on unique seascapes similar to this one, where the wind is a dominating factor and the direction from which it blows making any of the eighteen holes comparatively easy or extremely difficult.

The Lakes Golf Club

The Lakes is one of Australia’s pre-eminent private clubs and one of the leading major tournament venues in Australia having recently hosted 2010, 2011, and 2012 Men’s Australian Opens. The golf course provides the golfer with a unique opportunity to play one of Australia’s most famous layouts in a serene environment on outstandingly presented playing surfaces.

The extraordinary layout of The Lakes is one of the most memorable golfing experiences in Australia. The four par 5s including the famous water carry on the 14th hole provide a challenging test for every golfer. The hosting of the Australian Open for three consecutive years has resulted in international acclaim for the highest level of presentation. With the entire course built on the Sydney Sandbelt, the golf course is regarded as one of the best-wet weather courses in the region. The final nine holes border the Botany Aquifer and wetlands area, with an abundance of wildlife, scenic views and a range of tempting golf shots.

Stonecutters Ridge Golf Club

Stonecutters Ridge is a meticulously designed Greg Norman golf course and the world-class 18-hole championship course has been designed to rank inside the top 100 Australian courses.

One of the many appealing aspects of the Greg Norman-designed golf course is how the 6328-metre par 72 courses sit amongst the rolling topography of the site. Framed by the meanderings of Eastern Creek and surrounding bushland, the course landscape reflects the characteristics of its natural surroundings. Designed with three distinct landscaping themes in mind, each aspect complements the overall development and provides a range of sensory experiences as players travel around the course.

Intimidating bunkers, challenging greens and impressive water features are all hallmarks of the Greg Norman design.

Long Reef Golf Club

Golfers enjoy the unique experience of playing golf on a Links course – The Links at Long Reef provides a challenge to golfers of all standards, and the spectacular location offers a cool breeze on even the hottest summer day.

Twin Creeks Golf Club

Situated in the beautiful surrounds of the Nepean Valley and located just 45 minutes west of Sydney’s CBD, the Graham Marsh-designed par 72 championship golf course is set amongst 800 acres of bushland.

Challenging to professionals yet enjoyable for the purely social golfer, the course design takes into account the spectacular rural setting to create a visually stunning and tranquil golfing experience.

The meticulous design results in a consistently high standard of balanced golfing facilities destined to stand the test of time.

Among Graham Marsh’s well-known and highly acclaimed Australian courses are Terrey Hills, The Vines, Horizons, Robina Woods and Paradise Palms.

Liverpool Golf Club

Liverpool is a highly regarded Championship course and is commonly recognised as one of the premier layouts in Sydney. The par 72 course is a wonderful test of golf for both professional and amateur golfers with water in play on 14 holes. Good shot selection is key with players rewarded for straight hitting.

Experienced golfers will revel in the challenge from the championship tees while social golfers will appreciate the beauty and serenity of the lake land environment. Having undergone significant remodelling of the bunkers in recent years, the course enjoys an enviable reputation as one of Sydney’s top golf venues.
